SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 10 – Joseph Sapia, on
supervised release, was
re-arrested for driving while
high.
On
February 10, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Denise L. Cote held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Sapia's
lawyer focused on his client's
health conditions: he is over
70 years old.
He has an
appointment to get his first
COVID vaccine shot, and
another upcoming medical
procedure.
The AUSA
expressed sympathy but
emphasized Sapia's criminal
history. Judge
Cote, showing mercy, agreed
Sapia could be out of jail,
but would need her
pre-approval before driving in
any way.
The case is US v.
Sapia, 99-cr-1193 (Cote)
