SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 25 – A dispute about a ban
on hijab wearing in Booking
Photographs in New York gave
rise to a lawsuit involving
Turning Point for Women and
the Council on
American-Islamic Relations New
York.
On May 19,
2022 U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrate Judge
Katharine H. Parker held a
conference. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Parker
ordered the City to produce
the report of its academic
expert by June 30, and for the
deposition of the expert to
occur before July 21, on which
day another conference will be
held.
On October 25,
Judge Parker held another
conference, and Inner City
Press again covered it. Judge
Parker listened - there was
discussion of how different
people would be impacted
differently but the policy -
then ruled that the City's
brief in support of its motion
for absent class member
discovery is due on November
9; plaintiff's opposition
brief is due November 23. The
deadline to complete Rule
30(b)(6) depositions is
extended nunc pro tunc to
November 1.
The case is Clark
et al v. City of New York,
18-cv-2334 (Torres /
Parker)
