SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 10 – Alexander Rivera
pleaded guilty to drugs, guns
and racketeering charges, as
part of El Salvador-based
MS-13.
On March 10, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Judge William H. Pauley III
held his sentencing. Inner
City Press covered it.
Rivera's
lawyer spoke movingly of the
problems in El Salvador and
described his client as shy,
not at all what he expected.
He said this is his first
MS-13 case.
Judge
Pauley recounted, from the
pre-sentencing investigation
report, Rivera's childhood
working in the fields like his
grandfather before him.
He sentenced
Rivera to 60 months, after
which he will be deported. His
lawyer expressed hope that
things are getting better in
El Salvador.
The case is US v.
Rivera, 19-cr-734 (Pauley)
