SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 14 – Holly Gavel went to
work for WOW Payments LLC, "an
unregistered business" at 40
Exchange Place in lower
Manhattan, in January 2019.
WOW director Kofi Korang, Ms.
Gavel complains, immediately
began sexual overtures.
He "began to
insist that he was seeking a
wife, a tax break, and a green
card and that Plaintiff could
provide a solution to his
problems if she gave into his
advances." She did not.
She sued.
On
September 9 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Korang and
WOW, the unregistered
business, did not show up.
Judge Liman directed Gavel's
counsel to submit a motion for
default judgment.
On October
14, Judge Liman held another
proceeding in the case, and
Inner City Press again covered
it. Judge Liman asked, Has
counsel called in? He entered
a default judgment against
Korang, while here the case
was otherwise being settled,
with a stipulation without 30
days.
The inquest into
the default will head to the
Magistrate, seemingly Debra C.
Freeman. The case is Gavel v.
