SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 31 – Christian Valdez
was charged in a drugs and
guns case - then asked that
the Supreme Court decision in
Borden v. US, No
19-5410, be
considered.
On February 15, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Andrew L. Carter held a change
of plea proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
When asked
if he had ever sought
psychological counseling,
Valdez said he had tried by
the services provided were
sub-par.
This gave rise to
more questions. Ultimately,
Judge Carter accepted Valdez'
guilty plea to Count 2, and
set sentencing for May 24 at 2
pm.
On March 31 in
the case case, Ronald Soriano
also pleaded guilty. Judge
Carter asked him, did you use
violence to take money?
No, Soriano replied. I
used violence because he
raised his voice. Eventually a
fuller story was told.
The case is US v.
Soriano, 20-cr-115
(Carter)
