SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 14 –
Duvaughn Wilson, Courtney
Schloss and James Thomas are
the subjects of a superseding
indictment for firearms
crimes, including a straw
purchase from a dealer in
Lilburn,
Georgia.
On June 11, 2021 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Sidney H. Stein held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The
defendants pleaded not guilty.
Judge Stein has set the
deadline for motions, and
another conference.
Jump cut to
November 14, 2022. The case
grew to ten defendants, one of
which, Christopher Machado,
was up for sentencing. His
lawyer referred to another
case in Brooklyn, and a
previous youthful offender
conviction.
In this
case, reference was made to
rap videos Muchado allegedly
released "glorifying guns." He
said someone else had access
to his social media and
uploaded; Judge Stein asked
why that other musician would
not have claimed credit. With
the US Attorney's Office
pushing for 60 months, Judge
Stein imposed 36 months, and
urged the defendant to change
his life. Contrition was
expressed: the defendant said
he'd done it to impress
others, and had not fired
guns. Judge Stein noted that
at least three of the
trafficked guns had been used
in shootings.
The overall case
is US v. Wilson, et al.
21-cr-249 (Stein)
