SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 25 – Matthew Rivera is
charged with kidnapping, and
doing it on
video.
On January 25,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge P Kevin Castel held a
charge of plea proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
A main
issue was whether detaining,
beating and filming could be
considered kidnapping.
The US Attorney's
Office analogized it to other
cases in which no money
changes hands. Rivera said he
knew it was filmed.
There are related
cases. In fact, later on
January 23 from the US
Attorney's Office, this:
"Joseph
Davila is scheduled to plead
guilty on February 2, 2021.
The last remaining defendant,
Paul Arce, through his
counsel, has engaged in
significant plea
discussions.... adjourn 60
days." That one is US v. Arce,
20-cr-292 (Castel).
