SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 23 – Abelardo Montero
was arrested two months ago
for illegal re-entry of the
United States.
On March
23, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Alison J. Nathan
held his sentencing. Inner
City Press covered it.
Montero's lawyer
described how he came to the
U.S. only to work; that he
would wait at 7 am in The
Bronx for a truck to come pick
him and drive him to a day
labor job.
The government
lawyer said he would rest on
the papers.
Montero has
agreed to Fast Track, to not
contest deportation.
He was sentenced
to time served and admonished
not to try to come back again.
The case is US v.
Montero, 21-cr-169 (Nathan)
