After Supervised Release Violation and Failures SDNY Judge Rakoff Calms Crying Defendant

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 18 –   Anthony Rosado while under supervised release dropped out of drug treatment and disappeared.

On October 16 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Jed S. Rakoff held a violation of supervised release proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Rakoff said that in his 25 years on the bench this was the most depressing case he had seen.

He had given Rosado a chance, two chances, but things just kept slipping back. He sentenced him to three more month, after which no more supervision. Only you can help yourself now, he said.

Rosado spoke, crying. He said everyone was giving up on him.

Judge Rakoff, who could have already ended the proceeding, hadn't.

No, he told Rosado, everyone hasn't given up on you. I haven't give up on you.

The case is US v. Rosado, 17-cr-744 (Rakoff)
