SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 8 – The US Department of
Health and Human Services has
been sued under FOIA for
records about its policy
change that strips
unaccompanied immigrant
children in federal custody of
their ability to meet with
attorneys.
On
December 8 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Ronnie Abrams
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
The AUSA pointed
to the Jamal Khashoggi
(murder) FOIA request to the
State Department that Inner
City Press reported on earlier
in the day.
The AUSA said
that case showed the downside
of a judge ordering the
production of so many records
that others' requests are left
in the dust.
Judge Abrams ordered that 500
documents a month should be
produced in this case, with a
joint status report by
February 8 or earlier if
needed.
The case is New
York Civil Liberties Union v.
Office of Refugee Resettlement
et al., 20-cv-5573 (Abrams)
