SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 17 – Kevin R. Scott was
nearly the end of his
supervised
release.
On May 13, 2021 in the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
there was a proceeding on
Scott. Inner City Press
covered it.
Scott did not
show up or call in.
Even the
defense lawyer expressed
concern. There was talk of
Scott going off his meds;
issues of competency and the
need for an evaluation were
discussed.
A warrant was to
be e-mailed to chambers.
On June 10, the
US Attorney's Office wrote
that the U.S. Marshals have
located Scott in a residential
substance abuse treatment
program, and that since the
Court wants him to remain
there, the arrest warrant
should be withdrawn.
On June 15, it
was: "ORDER as to Kevin R.
Scott. The warrant issued on
May 13, 2021 for Mr. Scott's
arrest is hereby vacated."
Jump cut to
January 26, 2022. Inner City
Press was in the SDNY
Magistrates Court when Scott
was brought in on a violation
of supervised release.
Magistrate Judge Ona T. Wang
said she would release him on
condition so he would with
with his lawyers to prepare a
bond package. Now "Bail Review
Hearing set for 2/7/2022 at
10:30 AM before Magistrate
Judge Ona T. Wang."
And then, without
phone call-in line, he was
ordered released: " Minute
Entry for proceedings held
before Magistrate Judge Ona T.
Wang:Detention Hearing on
disposition sheet as to Kevin
R. Scott held on 2/7/2022.
Defense counsel Stephen
Turano. AUSA Alexander Li.
Agreed conditions of release:

recognizance, $500,000 PRB

(see attached - ECF 94, pgs.
4& 5), CJA counsel,
Stephen Turano, is substituted
for prior CJA counsel, Robert
Gottlieb. Next conference set
before District Judge on
2/24/22 at 2pm."
On March 17,
Scott with his ankle bracelet
beeping and Turano appeared in
person before Judge Koeltlt.
Inner City Press was in the
courtroom - the only one in
the gallery.
Probation
was recommending time served
and an end to supervised
release. Turano said his would
just be abandoning his client,
who needs help. Judge Koeltl
agreed, and set a new date to
come up with a proposal: March
31 at 2:30 pm.
The case is US v.
Scott, 13-cr-962 (Koeltl /
Wang)
