Man Jailed For Life For Murder For Hire Seeks Release At 66 SDNY Judge Rakoff Mulls

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 27 – Martin Lewis was sentenced to life for a murder for hire. Now he wants out of FCI Sheridan.

On October 27 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Jed S. Rakoff held an oral argument. Inner City Press covered it.

Lewis' counsel said that while there was no Bureau of Prisons letter saying how great Lewis is, that might be due to a new BOP policy to prohibit such letter.

No good deed goes unpunished, Judge Rakoff remarked.

He noted that Lewis is 66; he promised a decision by the end of the year, presumably after he finishes his four week criminal jury trial Inner City Press is also covering, US v. Petit.

This case is US v. Lewis, 00-cr-1118 (Rakoff)
