SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 4 – Young people in New
York City with a range of
disabilities sued then
Education Commissioner Carmen
Farina in 2017. U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrate Judge Katharine H.
Parker held a proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Many
parents have responded to
noticed by saying they do not
want their information shared,
at least publicly. Judge
Parker's team has received
over 300 notices; the Board of
Education has received more
like a thousand.
On August 4 there
was a recognition that the
notice sent out was
over-broad. Judge Parker said
she will forward the list of
300 - she was asked that it be
password protected, and
agreement.
The assigned
District Judge, William H.
Pauley signed an order
granting until October 5 for a
status report.
The case is J.L.
v. New York City Department of
Education et al., 17-cv-7150
(Pauley / Parker)
