SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 18 -- Ricardo Salazar was
sentenced to 84 months
imprisonment by Judge Deborah
A. Batts in April 2011 in the
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New
York. On
February 18, 2020, after the
passing of groundbreaking
Judge Batts, Salazar
reappeared in the SDNY
Magistrates Court on an
alleged Violation of
Supervised Release, having a
gun with a filed off serial
number in Connecticut while
selling heroin in Connecticut
in 2017. Salazar
had been released by the
Connecticut system and sent to
SDNY, where his case was
reassigned to Judge Ramos. But
as the Probation Officer
present said, what if Judge
Ramos gives him time served?
What of his Connecticut
probation date in 2022? There
was reference to a private
prison. In any
event, Salazar's appointed CJA
counsel Edward Sapone
consented to detention without
prejudice. Inner City Press
will continue to cover this
case. It is US v. Salazar,
10-cr-345 (Ramos / Moses).
