SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 24 – Hossein
Wasari was charged with
embezzling more than $1.5
million from a car washing
business.
On April 22, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Andrew L. Carter held his
sentencing. Inner City Press
covered it.
The
prosecutor, citing Wasiri's
health, said that a
non-custodial sentence would
be OK. Judge Carter noted that
Wasiri is still driving Uber
but not much less. He
sentenced him to time served
and three years of supervised
release.
On the
amount of restitution, the
victim Aska Sakan Inc. says it
should be higher than $1.5
million. Submissions remain
due on that issue.
The case is
US v. Wasiri, 19-cr-423
(Carter)
