SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 22 – Abdullah Spencer El
Dey, a Riker's Island inmate
in a wheelchair who said he is
COVID-weakened, filed a
Federal lawsuit when another
inmate, Medina, was moved into
his cell and abuse
began.
On April 22, 2021, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New
York Judge Jesse M.
Furman held a proceeding.
Inner City Press covered it.
Judge
Furman patiently described the
discovery process. He gave
four months for it, and noted
that if the defendants move
for summary judgment there is
a notice they have to
give.
The
plaintiff said he had a
personal question.
But Judge Furman
explained that if it was not
about the case, it was
probably better to find
someone else to ask.
The case is El
Dey v. Brann et al.,
20-cv-7208 (Furman)
