SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 11 – Umar Alli sued after
being abused in Rikers Island
detention on, he said, October
8, 2021.
On October 7, 2022, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
The
defendants wanted the case
stopped for use of the wrong
date. Judge Netburn,
practical, said she would deem
the complaint amended to mean
October 7 each time it said
October 8.
Alli asked,
what if some corrections
officers were active on both
dates? Judge Netburn said she
would only dismiss them for
their acts on October 8. The
case continues.
It is Alli v.
