SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 26 – Herman Boss was out
on pre-trial release in a
multi-defendant bank- and
wire-fraud case. Then he was
arrested in Los Angeles on an
"alleged domestic violence
incident."
On April 23, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Denise L. Cote held a
bail hearing. Inner City Press
covered it.
The US
Attorney's Office detailed the
charges against Boss, while
his CJA attorney described
those willing to sign a
$100,000 bond.
Judge Cote denied
the request for release.
On May 26, Bass
appeared before Judge Cote to
plead guilty. He said he had
helped money launder, and
clarified he had known it was
illegal at the time. His
lawyer asked that he be
transferred back to
California.
Judge Cote asked he
might be released there, and
said she would not like that
to happen. The defense lawyer
said he will present
mitigation information at
sentencing. Judge Cote said
that then it should not be
expedited, but rather in
September.
The case is
US v. Boss, 20-cr-179 (Cote)
