SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 28 – Stephen Ide had a
ticket for a flight on British
Airways that BA canceled due
to COVID.
But instead
of refunding Mr. Ide his
money, BA offered only a
voucher. Ide sued.
On April 28, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Jesse M. Furman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Amid questions
about phased discovery,
deadlines were set. Judge
Furman acknowledged that
everything is more difficult
amid COVID, particularly in
international
litigation.
He said the
next conference on December 14
will probably be in-person.
Then he
added that he, like judges
around the country, is
thinking about having more
proceedings by phone even
post-COVID. Let there be
call-ins for the press and
public.
This case is Ide
v. British Airways PLC,
20-cv-3542 (Furman)
