SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 29 – Paul Phillips was
arrested by NYPD on July 3,
2020, citing an NYC warrant
from the 1980s, and held for
four days in Riker's Island
then released. He sued.
On August
22, 2022 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Magistrate Judge
Sarah L. Cave held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Phillips'
complaint says when he was
released from Riker's Island,
the trains and busses had
stopped running. Now he says
he has PTSD.
Judge Cave
said that by September 22,
Phillips has to file a motion
for leave to file an amended
complaint or a letter advising
the Court of the status of
negotiations with the
Defendants regarding the
Motion. The Case Management
Plan is held in abeyance.
The case is
Phillips v. City of New York
et al., 21-cv-8149 (Carter /
Cave)
