SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 21 – Altaune Brown, a
paraplegic who uses a
wheelchair, filed an ADA
lawsuit against Madison Wine
and Liquor LLC at 45 Madison
Street in lower Manhattan.
On
September 15, 2022, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered
it. The
complaint says there is a step
at the entrance, and that
check-out / service counter is
inaccessible.
Judge Cave
listened and then scheduled a
settlement conference for
October 24 at 10 am. Before
then, she said, she wants a
history of settlement
negotiations.
And based on the
settlement conference, she
will hold off implementing the
case management plan.
The case is Brown
v. Madison Wine and Liquor LLC
et al., 22-cv-1715 (Gardephe /
Cave)
