SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 17 – Karen Feld and her
service dog Bellini were
riding an Amtrak train from
Boston to New York on December
22, 2017 when they were
removed and she was taken to
the New Haven police station.
She has
sued.
On December
17 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Paul A. Engelmayer held
a proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The Amtrak lawyer
said it was the New Haven
police who detained Feld and
took her to the hospital for
observation.
Judge Engelmayer
asked the plaintiff can be
given the names of the
officers involved, currently
referred to as John Doe 1 - 5
in the complaint.
Strangely,
it appears that Amtrak does
not allow service animals but
only "pets" in first class and
business class.
The case is Feld
v. National Railroad Passenger
Corporation et al., 20-cv-6387
(Engelmayer)
