SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 20 – Christian Sanchez is
visually impaired. He has sued
DenbyUSA.com, which sells
bowls, plates and dinner sets
with being inaccessible.
On May 20,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Jesse M. Furman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Furman expressed surprise that
this website ADA case had
reached the stage of case
management plan, given how
quickly many such cases
settle.
He expressed some
skepticism of how standing was
pleaded - would the plaintiff
use Denby's site to buy plates
if it is improved?
The
defendant said mediation might
not be needed. Judge Furman
asked for a joint letter by
June 21.
The case is
Sanchez v. Denby USA Limited,
20-cv-10157 (Furman)
