SDNY COURTHOUSE,
4 Nov 21, updated
– Carmichael Gallery in
Los Angeles sold a painting
and a sculpture for
International Systems Groups -
but allegedly forged the
signature of a purported
buyer. A lawsuit
ensued.
On November 4 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Paul G. Gardephe held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
In the
docket is a an affidavit about
how the plaintiffs sought to
track down Seth Carmichael
using LexisNexis and TLOxp of
Transunion.
In January
2023 Seth
Carmichael
wrote to Inner
City Press
requesting
that the story
be updated. We
will: the case
was referred
to SDNY
Magistrate
Judge Stuart
D. Aaron for a
settlement
conference.
That was set
for December
9, 2021. The
parties
exchanged
settlement
offers. By
January 19,
2022, there
was a
memorandum of
understanding;
in February
they wrote in
again
requesting
more time to
"consummate,"
and again on
March 30,
2021. That was
approved on
April 4, 2021
- and there
the paper
trial ends. It
is said the
matter was
settled out of
court, and so
it appears.
The case is
International Systems Group,
Inc. v. Carmichael et al.,
21-cv-6301 (Gardephe)
