SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 26 – Edinson Amin
Beltre Feliz was working as a
dish washer in New York City
until COVID hit.
He lost his job,
and to send money to his
family in the Dominican
Republic he arranged to sell
600 grams of heroin for
$22,500. It was found to
contain fentanyl. He was
arrested and pled guilty.
On April
26, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Analisa Torres held
his sentencing. Inner City
Press covered it, as the only
person in the gallery of Judge
Torres' courtroom.
Beltre
Feliz cried when he spoke,
about his 92 year old
grandmother in the Dominican
Republic. His lawyer said
during his 11 months in the
MDC in Brooklyn he redirected
money from his commissary to
the Dominican Republic.
Judge Torres, on
a guideline of 51 to 71 months
and through the Safety Value
sentenced him to time served -
to be followed, now, by
deportation.
The case is US v.
Beltre Feliz, 21-cr-731
(Torres)
