SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 6 – The U.S.
Securities and Exchange
Commission has filed cases
against many of those involved
in the trade finance frauds of
the International Investment
Group (IIG). Now consultant
Charles Samel is the
defendant.
On June 4,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Denise L. Cote held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it. Samel had
filed a motion to dismiss, and
had it denied.
On June 4 it was
said the case is near
settlement. Judge Cote ruled
that a status letter is due
June 18 and "if the parties
have not reached a settlement
by that date, a conference
will be held to set a schedule
for further proceedings."
The case is
Securities and Exchange
Commission v. Samel,
20-cv-10769 (Cote)
