SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 28 – Carlo Badamo is 90
years old and he is dying. He
has sued, for asbestos under
the Jones Act for marine
personal injury, Chevron and
Chiquita Brands (as a
successor to United Fruit
Company) and others. But can
he be deposed before he passes
away?
On October 28
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Badamo has
asbestos-related cancer and
worked on the ships from 1944
to 1954. It
was said that he is failing
and may "no longer be here" by
Thanksgiving.
The production of
interrogatories is being
pushed, before a deposition is
spread out over two days.
The case is
Badamo v. Chevron U.S.A. Inc.
et al., 20-cv-5847 (Liman)
