SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 15 – Siavosh Henareh is
seeking compassionate release
from his prison sentence for
importing heroin from Turkey,
Greece and his native
Romania.
On
December 15 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge Jed
S. Rakoff held a proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Judge
Rakoff pointed out that it was
not all of nothing - he could
shorten Henareh's sentence,
citing United States v.
Brooker (Zullo), No.
19-3218, 2020 WL 5739712 (2d
Cir. Sept. 25, 2020).
He remarked that
the AUSA may not have read it.
Henareh's appointed counsel,
from Quinn Emanuel, cited the
relatively lower rates of
COVID in Romania.
The case is US v.
Henareh, 11-cr-93 (Rakoff)
