SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 31 – Mitchell Thompson
sued Rikers Island officers
for mistreatement while
imprisoned.
On March 30, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lorna G. Schofield held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
It had
begun as a class action, but
now after severance Thompson
was proceeding alone.
He described
being held for hours. Judge
Schofield listened and
explained some of how the
litigation would work. Now
motions are due by April 20,
and responses by May 20.
The case is
