SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 26 – Fozia Rasool slipped
and fell in the aisle of a
Turkish Airlines plane on a
flight from Saudi Arabia to
the US via Istanbul. She
sued.
On
January 8, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Paul A.
Engelmayer held a proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
There was a push
for a jury trials. Judge
Engelmayer reminded that by
order, there are no in person
trials in the SDNY until at
earliest February 12.
Then, criminal
trials particularly for those
detained take priority. He
mentioned SDNY Magistrate
Judge Kevin N. Fox, or a bench
trial.
Judge
Engelmayer extended fact
discovery to January 29 and
referred the case for a
settlement conference before
Judge Fox.
He set another
status conference for February
26.
And on that date,
Inner City Press again covered
it. The lawyers continued to
say how well they get along -
but the case hasn't settled.
There was talk of rank
smelling water from the
plane's bathroom. There will
be an attempt before
Magistrate Judge Fox on March
18. If unsuccessful, motions
in limine are due April 19,
with a final pre-trial
conference set for May 5.
The case is
Rasool v. Turkish Airlines,
Inc., 19-cv-9474 (Engelmayer)
