SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 12 –
Darrin James has been on
supervised released after
conviction as a felon in
possession of a firearm. But
the supervision is ready to be
lifted.
On April 12, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Richard M. Berman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Back on January
18, Judge Berman told James "I
haven't been in the courtroom
since November because of
COVID, and I am looking
forward to, in the not too
distant future, our ability to
come back to 500 Pearl
Street."
On April 12,
Judge Berman suggested to
James' lawyer that he make a
written request to terminate
supervision. The lawyer
replied that this last
conference in the case should
be in person. Judge Berman
agreed, in May.
But the two world
or methods can co-exist, with
call-in phone lines. We'll
continue to cover this.
The case is US v.
James, 10-cr-601 (Berman)
