SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 28 – Marc Lawrence was
sentenced to 55 months in
prison for securities fraud.
Then they told him his shots
of testosterone would
stop.
On December 28, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein
received a letter about the
denial of testosterone. Inner
City Press found it in the
docket, and now reports on
it.
Lawrence's
lawyer says his client needs
testosterone due to
hypopituitarism, "a condition
that causes the pituitary, a
kidney bean sized glad at the
base of the brain, to provide
insufficient amounts of the
hormones the body needs to
live."
But
the Bureau of Prisons form
says "testosterone
supplementation is not
approved or continued for
unlabeled uses, e.g., strength
training, increased libido."
His
lawyer protests that FCI
Coleman Low Doctor Newland's
prescription of testosterone
was disapproved by the Central
Office Pharmacist, and asks
Judge Hellerstein to act.
The case is US v.
Lawrence, 19-cr-437
