SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 9 –
Josephine McLaughlin came to
the US from Italy with her
parents in 1953. She majored
in music education, and later
got a job with the US Postal
Service.
Then she
began to help Daniel Borer
import synthetic cannabinoids
from China; he repackaged them
as "Psycho" and "Dead Man
Walking."
On June 9 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald
held a sentencing proceeding.
She asked, Who is on the line?
"Inner City Press, not a
participant."
There
followed a notably short
proceeding. McLaughlin's was a
supporting role, and not
compensated. Still, she
allowed her name to be used as
well. Her medical conditions,
redacted in her sentencing
submission, were said to put
her at risk to COVID-19.
Judge
Buchwald sentenced McLaughlin
to one year probation.
The case is US v.
McLaughlin, 18-cr-444
(Buchwald).
