SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 19 – Penny tock issuer
Empowered Products, Inc. hid
from the investing public its
involvement with Contrarian
Press, the SEC has alleged.
On June 19 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Debra C.
Freeman held a proceeding,
which seemed to be listed at
10:30 but was at 2:30 pm.
Inner City Press covered
both.
Judge Freeman had
asked the parties to return to
address standing, having found
that "the most on-point
authority cited by the
Defendants in their written
submission, consisting of
judicial decisions from
outside this Circuit... from
the District of Utah, the
Southern District of Florida
and the Middle District of
Florida does not generally
accord with the developed body
of law with this Circuit" on
depositions.
(The
earlier 10:30 slot was taken
by another 10 am case, which
Judge Freeman gave a couple of
weeks too while remarking,
perhaps joking, that Inner
City Press always appeared
just as things were ending.
Not on purpose).
The SEC case is
Securities and Exchange
Commission v. Contrarian
Press, LLC et al., 16-cv-6964
(Broderick / Freeman).
