SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 28 – On the afternoon of
May 28 the US Attorney's
Office announced that Doctor
Olivieri "was sentenced to 40
months in prison for
participating in a scheme to
illegally distribute oxycodone
and other controlled
substances. OLIVIERI
previously pled guilty before
U.S. District Judge Paul A.
Crotty, who also imposed
today’s sentence.
Matthew Brady, OLIVIERI’s
co-defendant, was previously
sentenced to 36 months in
prison for his role in the
same scheme."
Inner City
Press alone covered the
sentencing and of course there
was more to say. The
guidelines sentence for
Olivieri was 87 to 108 months.
He deposited at least $1
million in cash in his bank
accounts during the
scheme. The Brady in the
press release suffered two
overdoses.
It's fine
to brag, even if a sentence is
less than half of the lower
end of the guideline. But the
Office should answer questions
about indictments dismissed,
and should not try to withhold
trial exhibits as in OneCoin
which were assembled with
taxpayer funds. We'll have
more on this.
This case is US
v. Olivieri, 18-cr-316
(Crotty).
