SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 8 – Edward Guillen
is suing the City of New York
for a January 4, 2018 incident
in which he was arrested on
two counts of Criminal
Possession of a Weapon in the
Forth [sic] Degree and
incarcerated for 16 hours over
two days.
On
October 8 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Magistrate Judge Ona
T. Wang held a proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Judge Wang
asked Guillen's lawyer Samuel
DePaola some questions, and he
asked for time, saying his
case filed had been merged
with another case he has for
Guillen.
Judge Wang
asked, Against other police
officers?
Yes, was the
answer.
Inner City Press
checked it out and found the
other case - involving a
January 31, 2018 incident of
being arrested for allegedly
possessing an illicit air
pistol. Two arrests, two
cases.
Now in the
January 4 / Judge Wang case,
the City is complaining about
the lack of response to
discovery requests.
Judge Wang
ordered the two sides to
confer in a virtual room --
Inner City Press hung up --
and to get back to her.
This case is
Guillen v. City of New York et
al., 19-cv-5655 (Nathan /
Wang)
