SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 5 – H&W Deli Grocery
and its owned Pedro Santana
have been sued. For a hearing
on whether their attorneys can
drop them, they had to retain
an
interpreter.
On December 4 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Judge Gregory H. Woods held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Woods explained patiently the
rule that a corporation must
be represented by a lawyer.
Santana spoke through his
interpreter about trying to
put together some money.
On January 25
another conference was held,
and Inner City Press again
covered it. Santana, still pro
se, offered to show Judge
Woods that the bodega is
closed. Judge Woods declined,
and told Santana about options
for pro se litigants.
The case is
Taveras v. H & W Deli
Grocery, Inc. et al.,
19-cv-5750 (Woods)
