SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 30 – Photographer George
Steinmetz sued Shutterstock,
Inc. for allegedly putting his
photograph on sale without his
consent.
On January 28, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Alvin K. Hellerstein held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The photo
at issue is an aerial view of
a cloudy forest. Shutterstock
claimed they took it down when
they got the DMCA demand.
But the
plaintiff says Shutterstock
keeps such photos on its
servers and later puts them
back up for sale.
Judge
Hellerstein said discovery is
due by July 27 with a case
management conference set for
August 12.
The case is
George Steinmetz v.
