SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 8– Xing Lin,
a gang boss in NYC's
Chinatown, shot and killed two
people in a Flushing karake
bar in 2004.
On June 8,
2022 U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Sidney H. Stein
held an in-person
re-sentencing. Inner City
Press went and covered
it.
After
arguments from the defense
about Lin's record in prison,
and by the prosecution on the
seriousness of the crime,
Judge Stein asked Lin why he
did it. After conferring with
counsel, Lin declined to
answer.
Judge
Stein remarked that Lin had
had time to think about it.
He sentenced Lin
to 330 months or 27 and a half
years, after which Judge Stein
said he will be deported. He
did, however, reduce the fine
- and Lin will get $100 back
since the number of counts
dropped from three to four.
The case is US v.
Lin, 11-cr-114 (Stein)
