SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 30 –
Domingo Rosario Figueroa has
served nearly 30 years in
prison for "kidnapping two sex
workers in 1991," according to
DOJ.
On March 30, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Valerie E. Caproni held a
Davis re-sentencing. Inner
City Press covered it.
The
defendant is nearly 60 years
old, but has in recent years
been charged with fighting in
prison.
His Federal
Defender offered to explain
this, but only off the record,
not in front of the Press.
Judge Caproni correctly
declined.
The
defendant asked for time
served, which would result in
his transfer to the prison
system in Puerto Rico.
Judge Caproni
asked they have parole there;
the defendant said yes but
no. Ultimately
Judge Caproni said time
served, even after 30 years,
would be too light.
She ordered
some additional Federal time,
to be followed by transfer to
jail in Puerto Rico.
The case is US v.
Figueroa, 92-cr-19 (Caproni)
