SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 4 – Insurance on a
parking lot at 467 Bushwick
Avenue in Brooklyn has given
rise to a lawsuit that may or
not not go to a jury in July,
or a bench trial before
that.
On January
4 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Jed S. Rakoff held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Rakoff joked about how much
insurance companies like
juries. He offered a bench
trial, acknowledging he
perhaps should have said that
in the order setting up the
conference, so the two sides
could ask their clients.
He
described the four large
courtrooms in the SDNY, on the
top floors of 500 Pearl
Street, and said Zoom seemed
to work fine for bench trials.
The lawyers
picked a July jury trial date,
but said they will soon write
in if a bench trial is
acceptable.
The case is
Great American Insurance
Company v. Zelik, 19-cv-1805
