SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 7 – Neil Gonzalez was
working for Metro North
Railroad when he was injured
on August 10, 2016, in the
Mott Haven Yard in the South
Bronx. He sued.
On March 5, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Ronnie Abrams held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
called in and covered
it.
Things got
real, real fast. Settlement
was being discussed when Judge
Abrams reminded the parties
that it was a public line. She
suggested the proceeding end
so they could negotiate.
But they stayed
on, speaking in code. One
asked, Is your number the same
one as before? If so, there's
no point.
Judge
Abrams suggested that they
talk off-line, at least for an
hour, and file a status letter
by March 8.
