SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 19 – World Gold Trust
Services, LLC has sued
crypto-currency focused
Goldcoin Developers Group for
misusing its trademarks and
confusing the
public.
On
February 8, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
John G. Koeltl held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The
complaint says that
"Defendants have consistently
lauded the GoldCoin
cryptocurrency as a leading
cryptocurrency... Reality
presents a stark contrast to
these self-promoting
statements designed to enrich
Mr. Matthews at the expense of
the community and the public
at large."
Judge
Koeltl order the defendants to
show cause as a February 19
hearing why a default judgment
should not be entered against
them.
When he
held the February 19 hearing,
Inner City Press again covered
it. Jude Koeltl entered an
order enjoining defendants
from selling or otherwise
transferring the domain names
gldcoin.com, gldtalk.com and
gldtalk.org until a final
judgment is ordered - for
which the case has been
referred to a Magistrate
Judge. GoDaddy is off the
hook, at least as to
discovery.
The case is World
Gold Trust Services, LLC v.
Goldcoin Developers Group LP
et al., 20-cv-4667 (Koeltl)
