Calls Amid COVID Deadline Coming

SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 5 – Angel Otero has a
January 29 deadline for
submissions for compassionate
release from Federal prison.
But he's been unable to speak
with his lawyer due to
COVID-19 lockdown.
On January
5 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Katherine Polk Failla,
overseeing Otero's case, was
asked to sign an order on
it.
Before here are a
series of emails with FCI
Gilmer in Glenville, West
Virginia, including on from
earlier on January 5 that "We
are currently locked down due
to Covid restrictions.
At this time we
are not allowed to pull
inmates out of their
cells."
There is a
also a draft proposed order
that "the phone call must take
place within three days of
this order."
