SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 13 – Yonathan Junior
Garcia Valdez is charged with
kidnapping and Hobbs Act
robbery.
On May 13, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge P. Kevin Castel
held a bail hearing. Inner
City Press covered it.
The AUSA
emphasized the brutality of
the alleged crime, involving
baseball bats, while
acknowledging that while the
co-defendant's face was
visible since he wore no mask,
this defendant was masked.
The
co-defendant is set to plead
guilty on June 2.
Judge
Castel found no conditions
that could reasonably be
expected to protect the
community, and ordered
continued detention.
The case is US v.
Ra, 20-cr-601 (Castel)
