SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 15 – Mariela Matos
is a Dominican American
working for the NYPD.
She dated another
officer but it turned
physically abusive. She
complained, and says she was
retaliated against. She
sued.
On March
15, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Ronnie Abrams held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Abrams partially granted the
defendants' motion to dismiss
- but gave Matos until April
14 to file a second amended
complaint.
She also asked
for a letter by March 22 if
the parties want to pursue
settlement negotiations,
either through Magistrate
Judge Ona T. Wang of the
mediation program.
The case is Matos
v. City of New York et al.,
19-cv-7691 (Abrams)
