SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 10 – Shawn Cavender sued
a slew of John Doe NYPD
officers for throwing him to
the sidewalk on Madison Avenue
by 96th Street after he
attended a George Floyd
protest on June 2,
2020.
On April 8, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Alvin K. Hellerstein held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Hellerstein said "John Doe"
won't do.
He ordered the
municipal defendants to
provide the names of officers
by April 13, with plaintiff to
amend the caption by April 19.
Discovery will
run through December 12 with a
conference set for July 6,
2023.
The case is
Cavender v. City Of New York,
et al., 21-cv-7290
