SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 17 – Jorge
Villalobos, a doctor on Rikers
Island, was kidnapped and held
hostage by an inmate on
September 24, 2019.
Now
he and Cindy Martinez have
sued the City of New York, the
latter for loss of
consortium.
On June 17, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge P.
Kevin Castel held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The City's
lawyer had an excuse: the
hacking of the New York City
Law Department's computers.
She asked for an
extension to July 30 before
answering of moving to
dismiss.
Judge Castel
granted it, but said there
will be no further extensions.
The case is
Villalobos et al v. Captain
Smith et al., 20-cv-9736
(Castel)
