SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 24 – Warren Bartley was
arrested in a DEA "Hobbs Act
robbery" sting, agreeing to
find drivers to rip off drug
dealers.
On May 24,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein
held his sentencing. Inner
City Press covered it.
It emerged
that Bartley has no legal
status - anywhere. He was born
to an Jamaican immigrant
mother in the UK, who never
registered his birth before
bringing him to the US. He
can't even be deported to the
UK. He checks in with ICE, the
docket shows.
Judge Hellerstein, hearing
this, sentence Bartley to time
served and wished him well.
You are free, he said, then
qualified it, "since you are a
religious person."
The case is
US v. Bartley, 16-cr-842
