SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 23 –
Pro se plaintiff Dora Brown
has or had a website but felt
that she got wronged. She sued
Twitter, WordPress, BlueHost
and Automattic before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Katherine Polk Failla.
But when a
telephone conference was
convened on April 23, with
Inner City Press covering it,
Ms. Brown did not appear. The
lawyers for Twitter, et al.,
asked when they can file their
motions to dismiss.
Judge Failla to her credit
told them to hold off, to not
wrack up legal fees. She
issued an Order To Show Cause,
asked Brown to explain in
writing by May 14 "why she
failed to appear for the
scheduled initial pretrial
conference. Failure to comply
with this Order may result in
dismissal of this action for
failure to prosecute."
Judge Failla told those on the
phone that she was physically
in the courthouse, presumably
40 Foley Square, so that if
Ms. Brown had come in person
the CSOs would have told her.
(Many CSOs have been
furloughed or at least are not
seen for now.) The case is
Brown v. Automattic, et al.,
19-cv-6328 (Failla).
